How to deep clean makeup brushes
Cleaning your makeup brush should literally always be on the top of your list. I know it could be tempting to go pick the brush you used yesterday and reuse it today but girl – for your own good make sure you clean your brushes every time you use them.
Makeup and oils build up on your sponges and brushes and create a space for bacteria and microorganisms to breed. This causes your skin to break out and nobody wants that. Using dirty brushes can also cause infections and skin irritations.
They are so many ways to wash and clean brushes but the best way is to seek professional help.
So how often should you clean your brushes?
Makeup brushes should be washed at least once a week because they tend to be a breeding ground for all types of bacteria. This should be done especially for brushes that go around the eye area or brushes used for liquid based products. This is because they can get contaminated. However, for dry powders it is harder for microbes to grow on them.
When should sponges/brushes be replaced?
If you use your makeup brushes in the right way you should be able to use them for many years. It all depends on how you use them, but the biggest sign that you need to replace your brush is when the brush hairs start splitting/falling off.
For makeup sponges when your blender is cracking you should replace it right away. To prolong the life of your sponges/brushes you should keep them in a clean container.
